Lucas Hammond

-Lucas grew up immersed in the north woods of Minnesota and spent his high school years enjoying the unique beauty of the frozen north. Upon graduation with honors from Grand Rapids Senior High School, his adventure took him to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he taught hang gliding lessons and secured residency to attend North Carolina State University. He soon followed his family to Alabama to complete his Civil Engineering degree at Auburn University. While enrolled, Lucas was invited to join both Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society and Tau Sigma National Honor Society. As a senior, Lucas would discover his passion for alternative energy and soon became Assistant Engineer of Alabama’s first continuous process biodiesel plant, operated by Allied Energy Corporation in Birmingham. As an avid scuba diver and marine enthusiast, Lucas became involved in a marine aquaculture business. This project became a sustainable alternative to wild collected specimens, and would provide catalogued species for the medicinal and mariculture research communities. Lucas befriended Alex Smith, and the two immediately realized their shared passion for environmental stewardship. Alabama Green Solutions was soon founded with the mission of turning ecological solutions into economic possibilities.
